Phenolic SMC - DMC
SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) and DMC (Dough Moulding Compound) are reinforced composite materials based on a unique and patented thermosetting Phenolic resin, filler and glass fibre. The materials are asbestos free and non-acid catalysed, and specially formulated for hot compression moulding. Moulding produced from these materials combine the convenience of SMC- DMC with the special properties of phenolics. These include excellent chemical resistance, high temperature capability and outstanding fire performance. As with most phenolics, the smoke and toxic fume emission in a developed fire is also very low and meets the requirements of Rail Industry specific BS 6853 class 1a.
